Join the Club

Whether you're renewing your membership or joining us for the first time, here's everything you need to know. Membership is on a family basis and includes your spouse or partner and children under 18.

Renewing your membership

Annual membership fees fall due on 1 April each year. To renew, simply complete the membership form, make your payment, and return the form by email confirming payment has been made.

Fees must be paid before the form is returned, and no later than six weeks after 1 April. Payment after this deadline is treated as a new membership and the higher fee applies.

Late renewal (paid after deadline)£100
Honorary membership£0 — committee pre-approval required

  • Your boat must hold valid insurance for the full duration of membership. If insurance lapses, the Committee must be informed immediately.
  • Where required, a valid Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) certificate and river or navigation licence must be maintained.
  • All members must attend at least one work party during the year. Health exemptions are at the Committee's discretion.
  • The club pennant must be flown, or club decals displayed on both sides of the boat, when on club land or attending a club event.
  • Club pendants and decals must be removed from a vessel upon its sale.

Joining as a new member

HYCC is a welcoming club with strong demand for membership — a waiting list is often in place. New members go through a short introduction process to ensure a good fit for both sides before membership is confirmed.

The new member fee is £100, which also applies if an existing member pays after the renewal deadline.
